Electrical Design Engineer Wiring Harness Design

Position Overview
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, routing, integration, and documentation of vehicle electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and line replaceable units (LRUs). This role supports the packaging and integration of electrical components within military ground vehicles while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, modeling requirements, and release processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and draft electrical components, including wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and LRUs
- Design and draft mechanical support components such as brackets and mounting hardware
- Route and integrate complex wiring harnesses throughout military ground vehicles
- Create flattened harness models and detailed manufacturing drawings
- Package and integrate electrical components within vehicle platforms
- Evaluate available vehicle space and determine optimal routing paths for electrical systems
- Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to finalize component packaging and integration
- Develop 3D models and engineering drawings using Creo Parametric and Creo Pro-Cable
- Ensure designs comply with established modeling, drafting, and documentation standards
- Participate in peer reviews and incorporate feedback into final designs
- Support product development activities from concept through validation and release
- Develop technical data packages, specifications, and integration procedures
- Utilize advanced modeling and analysis tools to support system design and verification
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of related experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience using Creo Parametric
- Minimum 2 years of experience using Creo Pro-Cable
- Experience designing wiring harnesses and cable assemblies
- Experience routing wiring harnesses within complex vehicle environments
- Experience developing wiring harness and cable assembly drawings
- Experience working with electrical and electronic systems in military ground vehicles
- Strong understanding of CAD modeling, drafting, and design techniques
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/Y14.41, and GD&T principles
- Understanding of wire routing utilizing logical data from Siemens Capital Harness
- Working knowledge of military electrical connector and cabling specifications
- Ability to support complete product development cycles, including concept development, design, documentation, verification, and validation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting military vehicle electrical integration programs
- Experience developing technical data packages and verification procedures
- Advanced experience with electrical packaging and vehicle integration
