Senior Product Designer / Design Systems Architect (AI + Design Systems Focus)
Location: Remote - Must be located in Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL
Duration: Long-Term W2 Contract
Rate: $60-70/hr W2
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer / Design Systems Architect to join a large-scale enterprise Design Systems team focused on building scalable, AI-ready design infrastructure across digital products and platforms. This role will partner closely with product, engineering, architecture, and design teams to evolve enterprise design systems, operationalize reusable patterns, and support AI-assisted workflows and tooling initiatives.
This is a highly cross-functional hybrid role for someone who can comfortably operate between design, systems thinking, and technical implementation. The ideal candidate understands not only how experiences should look and behave, but also how scalable systems, component rules, and AI-enabled tooling can support both designers and developers at enterprise scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with product, engineering, and architecture teams to evolve scalable enterprise design systems and component ecosystems
Define reusable interaction patterns, component behaviors, design tokens, and system rules that support consistency and scalability across products
Collaborate closely with front-end engineering teams to ensure design system implementation aligns with product and technical requirements
Support AI-assisted design workflows, automation initiatives, and emerging design-to-code processes
Create and maintain scalable component documentation, usage standards, governance models, and pattern libraries
Translate design intent into structured systems that can be consumed by both humans and AI-enabled tooling
Contribute to Figma libraries, component architecture, token systems, and web component strategies
Support modernization initiatives focused on bridging design systems with AI tooling, code generation workflows, and scalable design operations
Present design systems strategy, workflows, and scalable UX recommendations to stakeholders and leadership teams
Partner across multiple enterprise product teams to ensure alignment, adoption, and governance of scalable UX standards
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Product Design, UX Systems, Design Systems, or Design Technologist experience
Strong experience building or scaling enterprise design systems, component libraries, and reusable UX frameworks
Experience with design tokens, web components, pattern libraries, and scalable UI systems
Advanced Figma proficiency including component architecture, prototyping, variables/tokens, and library management
Strong understanding of front-end development principles and design-to-development workflows
Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams on scalable system implementation
Ability to think beyond visual design and define structured rules, behaviors, and scalable interaction patterns
Strong systems-thinking mindset with experience simplifying complexity at enterprise scale
Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
Comfortable operating in Agile product environments with cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Storybook, React-based component systems, or front-end frameworks
Exposure to AI-assisted design workflows, design automation, or generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Codex, Cursor, v0, or similar technologies
Experience with Figma-to-code workflows or design engineering collaboration
Experience supporting enterprise SaaS, platform, or internal tooling ecosystems
Familiarity with design governance, system documentation, and scalable UX operations
Experience creating systems intended for both human and machine/AI consumption
Background in Design Ops, Design Engineering, UX Architecture, or Design Systems strategy preferred
