Job Description

The Senior Digital Content Specialist is a key player in boosting the brand of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by creating top-notch health care content for patients and other important stakeholders. They are part of the Web content management team, working with marketing, digital, and clinical teams to plan, write, and produce great content. In this role, the individual handles every aspect of the project, from project setup and communication to gathering input from industry, marketing and clinical leaders, setting strategic content goals, and integrating SEO recommendations into written content. Once writing is complete, this person will coordinate with the UX team to build and publish content. This person also leads the development of processes and policies and always look for new ways to improve our content development and marketing efforts.

They will:

Understand basic concepts of web design and development.
Write and develop content that meets the needs of the stakeholders in alignment with SEO recommendations, brand and style standards.
Adhere to established processes designed to optimize outcomes.
Manage workflow within project management tools to update and communicate status to project management, digital and marketing team members.
Interview marketing, and clinical leaders to gather requirements, align with business objectives and operational realities.
Conduct research with similar organizations to identify opportunities to integrate content improvements and best practices.
Seek and manage approvals on content development from marketing and clinical leaders.
Coordinate work and strategize with UX, SEO, proofing and other groups to optimize and produce high quality content.
Develop short and long-term solutions to enhance visitor experience and drive organizational value.
Work closely with front and back-end developers, and User Experience, Design, Marketing, Communications, Content, and Analytics teams.
Oversee successful adoption and training for processes.
Serve as the escalation point for unresolved project issues.
Potentially manage staff, including direct supervision of both staff members and contractors.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelors Level Degree in Journalism, English or related communication field or equivalent combination of education and experience. More than five years of proven experience in communication, public relations or related field required.
Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant digital content management experience.
Knowledge and proven record of writing, content development and AP style
Experience interviewing subject matter experts, clinical leaders and executives
Proven track record of gathering input from multiple sources, conducting competitive and related research to inform the writing process.
Ability to work creatively and collaboratively with marketing, clinical and digital stakeholders to implement, optimize, and publish content
Demonstrated record of accomplishment in leading system maturity discussions and decisions.
Working knowledge of analytics, SEO, and content management systems.
Understanding of digital accessibility best practices and requirements.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with senior management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
