Hitachi Rail STS USA, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks a Senior Signaling Design Engineer to work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location. The Senior Signaling Design Engineer will deliver hardware and functional signaling design for signaling projects in accordance with industry and company standards, guidelines, and processes. Specific duties include: (1) ensuring the review of input data by the civil data and drawings, vehicle propulsion, braking, parameters, automatic train control system equipment and parameters; (2) demonstrating the compliance document by RTM traceability and formal technical review process of hardware and signaling design; (3) delivery documentation generation pertaining to SBD Model, ICDD Vehicle Performance, CL Design Criteria, V&V test reports and ICD message architecture of signaling system based on company guidelines, process, schedule, delivery, and industry standards; (4) implementing the model of the design criteria according to the project requirements to perform the safety aspects based on AREMA and CENELEC Standards and calculating the safe braking distance model per IEEE Std P1698 for rail transit vehicles; (5) identifying and capturing performance and service requirements of hardware and signaling design; (6) creating and monitoring the data of application simulation methods, offering the most feasible and efficient method of calculating the safe breaking distances, and analyzing headway performance related to the variations of the systems parameters; (7) ensuring monitors effective performance by Shadow mode data analysis for vehicle, mobile to base radio communications, transponder data, WEU functionalities and Safety TSR Server for line system testing and revenue service vehicles; (8) developing wayside subsystem monitoring tools to verify the WEU functionalities, STS, and radio communication; and (9) developing the automation software upload tool to upload firmware, system, and radio configurations for mobile and base radios. This position is for a roving employee who will work in unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The employee will have to relocate, but travel is not required from any particular location.Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology plus five years of experience as a signaling engineer or embedded software engineer in or for the railway industry required.Must have experience: (1) with a(8) Embedded C, C++, Visual C#, VB.net, Perl and Python programming languages in various operating systems (Linux/Unix, Window, RTOS - QNX and VxWorks);(9) communication protocols including RS232, RS482, SPI and I2C; (10) database MS Access and MySql; (11) hardware/assembly languages: ; (12) Matlab/Simulink programming and Lab View simulation designs; (13) performing the test setup and system safety parameters, including system integration testing with wayside, carborne, office and other systems; (14) overseeingutilizing problem solving and analytical skills to provide optimal solutions; (16) demonstrating the ability to think strategically as part of a group to understand and evaluate the potential impact of long-term decisions; and (17) leading a team of engineers in performance analysis efforts.Apply at:
