Summary
The client Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for each of client's six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for the execution of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization.
Responsibilities
- Develop the scope, technical basis, installation and testing requirements for engineering design changes, which include but are not limited to Stress Analysis, Structural Analysis, Dynamic/Seismic Analysis, Steel and Concrete Design.
- Research engineering and design issues, evaluates alternatives, determines and presents recommendations to resolve issues.
- Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities.
- Develop or revise design/procurement specifications or technical requirements documents to support engineering design changes.
- Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
- Develop licensing screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes
- Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes.
Basic Qualifications
Nuclear Engineer III
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Master 's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 4-6 years of engineering experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
Sr Nuclear Engineer
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- A Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
- Proficient in principles of project management.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- State registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Strong background in Mechanics of Materials
- Experience performing Finite Element Analysis
- Working Knowledge of Structural Analysis software (ANSYS, GTStrudl, or similar)
- Experience with Dynamic/Seismic Structural Analysis
- Working level knowledge of Stress Analysis software programs (SuperPipe, AutoPipe, Caesar II).
- Working knowledge of ASME Codes (examples: B31.1, Section III, Section IX, Section XI), AISC Steel Construction Codes (ASD, LFRD, and ACI Concrete Design Code).
- Familiarity with Solidworks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
- Experience with nuclear industry standard design process.
Special Requirements
- Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed
- Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.
Working Conditions
- Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.
